Sprig Plant Care

Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 14, 2026

The short version: Sprig Plant Care is built with your privacy in mind. Your plant data is stored locally on your device. We do not sell your personal information. Plant photos sent for identification are processed by third-party services and are not stored permanently.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Sprig Plant Care ("Sprig," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Sprig Plant Care mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

  • Plant data: Plant names, watering schedules, locations, care notes, and custom labels you create within the App. This data is stored locally on your device.
  • Plant photos: Photos you take or select for plant identification or to associate with your plants. Photos used for identification are transmitted to third-party identification services (see Section 5) but are not permanently stored by us.
  • Subscription information: If you subscribe to Sprig Premium, your purchase is processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not collect or store your payment details, credit card number, or billing address.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information: We may collect general device information such as device type, operating system version, and app version to ensure compatibility and diagnose issues.
  • Usage analytics: We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (such as which features are used and how often) to improve the App. This data cannot be used to identify you personally. You may opt out of analytics in the App's settings.
  • Crash reports: If the App crashes, anonymous diagnostic data may be sent to help us fix bugs and improve stability.

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Your name, email address, or account credentials (no account required)
  • Your precise location or GPS data
  • Your contacts, calendar, or other personal data
  • Payment or financial information (handled entirely by Apple)
  • Advertising identifiers for targeted advertising

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Provide core App functionality: watering reminders, plant tracking, and care schedules
  • Process plant identification requests by sending photos to third-party identification services
  • Provide plant health assessments using AI-powered analysis
  • Improve the App's features, performance, and reliability
  • Send you local push notifications for watering reminders (with your permission)
  • Manage your subscription status through the Apple App Store

4. Data Storage and Security

Your plant collection data (names, schedules, care notes, and associated photos) is stored locally on your device. We do not operate cloud servers that store your personal plant data. If you delete the App, your locally stored data will be removed from your device.

We implement reasonable technical measures to protect any data transmitted from the App. All network communications use HTTPS encryption.

5. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services to provide certain features:

  • Pl@ntNet API (operated by CIRAD, INRIA, IRD, and INRAE) — Used for plant species identification. When you use the plant identification feature, your plant photo is sent to PlantNet's servers for processing. PlantNet does not permanently store submitted images. PlantNet's privacy policy is available at plantnet.org/en/privacy.
  • Google Gemini API (operated by Google LLC) — Used as a secondary identification service and for plant health assessments. When activated, your plant photo is sent to Google's servers for AI analysis. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Apple App Store (operated by Apple Inc.) — Handles all subscription purchases, payment processing, and receipt validation. Apple's privacy policy is available at apple.com/legal/privacy.

We do not share, sell, or transfer your personal information to any other third parties for marketing, advertising, or any unrelated purposes.

6. Camera and Photo Library Access

The App requests access to your device's camera and photo library solely for the purpose of plant identification and associating photos with your plant collection. Photos are used only for these purposes. Camera and photo library permissions can be revoked at any time through your device's Settings.

7. Push Notifications

The App may request permission to send local push notifications for watering reminders. These notifications are generated entirely on your device and are not sent through external servers. You can enable or disable notifications at any time through your device's Settings or within the App.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take steps to remove such information.

9. Your Rights

Because your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can:

  • Access your data: All your plant data is visible within the App at any time.
  • Delete your data: You can delete individual plants or all data within the App. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
  • Opt out of analytics: You can disable anonymous usage analytics in the App's settings.
  • Manage permissions: You can revoke camera, photo library, or notification permissions at any time through your device's Settings.
  • Manage your subscription: You can manage or cancel your Sprig Premium subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what data is collected and the right to request deletion. Contact us to exercise these rights.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
